Project overview
- Develop an application that optimizes reel assignment and consumption for cable spools (SmartReel).
- Integrate data extraction from SAP to feed the simulation and decision logic for assigning reels to each purchase order (PO).
Objectives & impact
- Design a Process Management System aimed at reducing scrap rate (remaining reels) and generating cost savings.
- Propose an IoT solution to detect actual cable length on reels to improve consumption accuracy and reduce waste.
Responsibilities & main tasks
- Analyse current reel usage and PO assignment processes; define requirements and workflows with the Lean Champion department.
- Implement simulation algorithms to evaluate best-case scenarios for reel assignment per PO and propose optimized assignment rules.
Expected deliverables & results
- A full written book of requirements including UI and UX specifications.
- A Most Viable Product (MVP) web application demonstrating the optimization logic and SAP data integration.
Profile & skills required
- IT / IOT Engineering Student with interest in web application development, data integration (SAP) and IoT hardware/software concepts.
- Skills in backend/frontend development, basic simulation/optimization techniques, and experience or willingness to work with SAP data sources.
