CESI LINEACT (UR 7527) is a Laboratory for Digital Innovation for Businesses and Learning to Support the Competitiveness of Territories. It anticipates and accompanies technological mutations in sectors and services related to industry and construction. Its close relationship with companies shapes our research activities, focusing on applied research in partnership with industry. A human-centered approach, combined with the use of technologies, territorial networking, and links with training, enables cross-cutting research that puts humans, their needs, and their uses at the center of its issues and addresses the technological angle through these contributions.
Its research is organized according to two interdisciplinary scientific teams and several application areas.
These two teams develop and cross their research in application areas such as:
Areas supported by research platforms include Rouen, dedicated to Factory 5.0, and Nanterre, dedicated to Factory 5.0 and Construction 4.0.

Context
The rapid expansion of robotics and its applications has driven robot manufacturers to develop proprietary programming software to endow machines with intelligence. These programming environments often remain closed to access to lower programming layers. To overcome these constraints, robotic middleware emerged in the early 2000s. Robotic middleware is a software overlay installable on an existing operating system (Linux or Windows) that contains generic tools and libraries to facilitate programming of robotic intelligence capabilities. Despite these middlewares, programming robotic missions remains less accessible to non-experts. This is the framework in which the FUSION project positions itself; its main objective is to democratize robotics use, particularly through the introduction of XR for designing robotic missions via the digital twin.
Within this context and as part of its research on digital twins, virtual reality, and robotics, the CESI LINEACT laboratory conducts research activities on human–systems interfaces that allow editing of business procedures, training content, or virtual reality robotic missions. The first works have enabled the architecture of the NEURONE framework, allowing remote control.
Objectives
The internship aims first to integrate and compare existing interactions within the FUSION project. Subsequently, in collaboration with CONSCIENCE ROBOTICS, the work will evolve to design and develop new XR functionalities, such as: integrating LIDAR 3D scan mapping and visualization, defining missions for recognizing and reading elements of a remote scene, and coupling robotic architecture dedicated to a single API with our internal architecture. The proposed developments will be integrated into the DTAPI Framework, implemented at the LINEACT laboratory, and connected to the API implemented in the Conscience Robotics environment. This work will be based on the future industry platform at the CESI Rouen campus and its digital twin. A proof of concept integrating one of the robotic components of the platform (mobile robot or robotic arm) or a micro learning factory will be studied during the internship.
