Develop a tool that scans Unreal Engine projects to detect and report asset inconsistencies to ensure a unified and clean pipeline.
Focus on common asset issues such as incorrect texel density, naming convention violations, wrong material setups, missing collisions and missing LODs.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement texel density analysis and provide automated correction suggestions or guidance for artists.
Create validators for naming and folder structure conventions and generate actionable reports for remediation.
Detect missing LODs, missing collisions, material mismatches and other asset problems and produce recommended fixes.
Integrate automated reporting (logs, CSV/JSON/exported reports) and optionally in-editor notifications.
Technical Requirements & Deliverables:
Build the solution as Editor Utility Tools / an Unreal Editor plugin compatible with Unreal Engine 5.
Use Python for tooling/scripting and integrate with Unreal's editor scripting or automation systems.
Optionally leverage Machine Learning APIs for advanced anomaly detection or classification of asset issues.
Deliver a working tool/plugin, example reports, usage documentation and a short integration guide for artists/technical artists.
Candidate Profile:
Background in game development, technical art, computer graphics or software engineering; experience with Unreal Engine (UE5) is required.
Experience with Python scripting, Editor Utility Widgets/Editor scripting in Unreal, and familiarity with asset pipelines (LODs, collisions, materials, texel density).
Familiarity with naming conventions, folder structure best practices and basic machine learning APIs is a plus.
