Analyze the consumption of spare parts to identify inefficiencies and define optimization actions.
Apply the 80/20 (Pareto) method to identify the critical spare parts representing the majority of consumption.
Missions / Tasks
Perform data analysis on historical consumption using Excel or similar tools to build the Pareto of spare parts consumption and highlight critical items.
Define dynamic rules to determine safety stock levels for spare parts, and design inputs/outputs procedures for spare parts management.
Propose optimization opportunities (e.g., consolidation of part numbers, reorder policies, critical item monitoring) and quantify expected impact.
Methodology & Deliverables
Deliver a consumption analysis report including Pareto charts, list of critical items, and suggested classification of parts by criticality and value.
Produce a documented set of dynamic rules for safety stock calculation and clear procedural steps for receipt, issue and stock control of spare parts.
Provide implementation recommendations and an action plan to monitor and maintain optimized spare parts levels.
Profile & Required Skills
Master/Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics or Data Science with interest in inventory management.
Basic knowledge of inventory management and Pareto analysis; strong data analysis skills (Excel or similar tools).
Understanding of spare parts or maintenance processes, ability to identify high-impact items and optimization opportunities, analytical thinking and problem-solving.
Practical Information
Number of trainees: 1 intern.
Duration: 4 months (mapped to internship duration field: 4-6 months).
